login.keychain.sb files keep growing?

The Keychains folder is ~/Library/ contains 1538 entries such as login.keychain.sb-ff678f7f-4MV5Ub and metadata.keychain.sb-1dcddc31-tBkSkj plus the login.keychain and the metadata.keychain files.

The folder is 104.3 MB and keeps growing.

Is it safe to trash all the .sb files? What are the caveats?

Thanks

The files are written at boot time, every time I boot. 21 login.keychain.sb files, such as the one above, are written.

I haven't seen any metadata file (yet ...) nor noticed any strange behavior after pulling all the keychain and metadata files out of the Keychain folder.

I would like to know what those files are for and why Apple has decided that they need to be there .......

BTW, nothing like this happens on the HD partition that runs 10.6.8.
