Does anyone know the exact location of the "Apple Hardware Test" on my drive?
I want to extract it for later use in the case I want to reinstall the system. I don't have the original Install Disks anymore.
Thanks in advance,
It's a normally invisible folder : /System/Library/CoreServices/.diagnostics/
I didn't think they were stored on the system, and can't find that hidden folder on my OS X 10.7 system (which displays hidden files). I did, however, find it on my OS X 10.6 partition.
thank you AndyBall_uk! I hope it works if I just clone the files with ccc to a stick and try to start of it. or alternatively just copy the files back if I have a computer with a missing hardware test.
I've not tried a stick or CCC, but dropping the whole folder in CoreServices on a 10.6.8 system worked perfectly here, even w/o altering ownership.
Some models, you can download the right version from Apple: AppleHardwareTest
see Apple Hardware Test (AHT) from a USB drive. too.
