Feb 8, 2015 4:17 AM in response to sheila_m.by PerezTroiko,Hi Sheila, Please answer this question to me:
When I mirror my MAC it sends the image and sound to the Apple TV properly. I have also connected an Airport Extreme to the Apple TV to send the sound to an external speakers.
In this case, the Apple TV doesn't send the sound to the Airport Extreme. WHY? The Airplay Sound in the Apple TV is well configured as it works for content which is in Apple TV. But not when I use Airplay mirroring for my MAC.
Why it happens?
If I use third party apps as Beamer it works properly.

Feb 13, 2015 11:21 PM in response to jon mooneyby Hondo77,actually it is not the case always, however having a slower router can cause problems indeed.
For example eventhoguh I have a really fast gigabit wireless router i had experienced the same lag issue. The apple support dropped the ball, because as usually they asked me to restart, than restart again, and how about reinstalling? I'm like what? i have a 8 month old mbp retina I'm not willing to accept that the apple tv cannot connect to an apple computer and the solution is to reinstall..
anyway the solution in my case was to switch off the bluetooth on macbook pro. Which is still utterly ridiculous considering the fact that i was continuously told that "apple innovative, has perfect products, and you pay more but get less headache"...

Feb 15, 2015 9:31 PM in response to krissoundzby Boris Rio,Just another frustrated consumer here. Cannot mirror a full screen video from my MacBook Pro to my Apple TV via Verizon FiOS wifi.
Tried connecting the laptop to router with a Ethernet cable but that didn't matter.
The video lags, hangs up, freezes, stutters … anyway, it's useless.
It's absurd that we pay premium prices for Apple products and cannot get their devices to work as promised.

Feb 17, 2015 9:45 PM in response to Hondo77by mandil,+1. Switching bluetooth off seems to take care of the lag issues.
So I have to sacrifice my wireless mouse and keyboard to get airplay mirroring? No ideal!

Feb 18, 2015 8:46 AM in response to krissoundzby MConsulo,I invested THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of Dollars on my APPLE STUFF.. I have raved about the AIRPLAY and chose to purchase all AIRPLAY items to serve as my HOME Music source. it has been FLAWLESS for the past 18 months, but for the past 2 weeks I have been unable to use my AIRPLAY with my MACBOOK.. Every Song FREEZEs multiple times and its impossible to use MULTIPLE items with AIRPLAY right now.. I even REBUILT my entire WIRELESS Network in an effort to correct the issue. I have come to the conclusion that it is my MACBOOK Pros "WIFI" AIRPLAY issue. When using an WIRED ETHERNET Cable with my MACBOOK it seams to stream the music PERFECTO!!!.. My IPAD and IPHONE seam to stream the music individually to each AIRPLAY Item excellent too. The only issue I have is when trying to run ITUNES with my MACBOOKs WiFi. Come on APPLE, you've never let us down before.. I have been faithful and own nothing but APPLE right now... Keep us happy, fix this issue... BTW, BLUETOOTH is OFF!! Thanks... Mike

Feb 20, 2015 8:34 AM in response to MConsuloby MConsulo,UpDate to my Post 2 days ago:
I actually APOLOGIZE to Apple for claiming that my above issue was theres... It wasn't.. The problem was that my XFINITY Cable Modem that must have done an update and changed something in its NETWORK Settings.. The fix for my AIRPLAY Problem was to RESET My Xfinity Modem to defaults, then LogIn to the Firmware and change the MODEM to BRIDGE MODE.. Evidently I had a "DOUBLE NAT and Dualling DHCP Servers" going on.. What I figured out is: If you have your own WIFI ROUTER other than your ISP provided one, then one of them needs DHCP/NAT turned off and the other needs to be in BRIDGE MODE. I turned my Cable Modem to Bridge Mode and set my Apple Airport Extreme to Issue the DHCP with NAT.. I first Reset all Hardware Items to FACTORY DEFAULTS just to make sure.. After performing all the above steps it was a BREEZE to reconnect all ITEMS.. I now have 6 (six) airplay devices and they work flawless AGAIN... Thanks APPLE, sorry for the previous negative post.. Feb 21, 2015 7:42 PM in response to Paul Howard4by paulysea,it's now 2015 and I'm having the same issue. I have a great TV w/ identical resolution - NOT THE TV's PROBLEM. Wow. Same with the router and Internet I have 20mbps down and 5mbps up NOT HTE PROBLEM LOL. I've run my dell pc over air stream to multiple apple tv's for years and NO PROBLEMS. The first time I go to stream over my brand new MacBook Pro there is immediate jumping, skipping, stalling, every 1-2 seconds, not 20 seconds. I can't get out of a frame. It's horrible. If this issue is not resolved or blog abandoned shame on APPLE. That's terrible. If anyone has figured this out please help!!! Thank you!

Feb 22, 2015 9:30 PM in response to krissoundzby MConsulo,I Have found my Problem and its solved. I hope this can possible work to solve your issues too.. I found that my MacBook WIFI Card had interference issues with a 2.4ghz WiFi Camera that was installed with my VIVINT home Swcuriry system. I started using my 5ghz WiFi in my AirPort Extreme and logged my MacBook onto it and my problem stopped immediately!!! It also stopped when Inunplugged the Cameras. Hope this helps everyone. Good Luck.

Feb 25, 2015 7:28 PM in response to paulyseaby jaggermuse,I just tried mirroring and extending desktop to ATV with my brand new MacBook Pro (NVDIA version) and tried playing several video files through VLC. No matter what type - mp4, mkv, mov, nothing worked smoothly. I was never able to do this with old MacBook Pro either, but stumbled across third party software that allowed me to stream movie files to ATV without many hiccups. Good news - still works with new MBP. So far, anything but video works with mirroring/extending to ATV. Do yourself a favor and get Beamer - http://beamer-app.com. It's not free, but so worth the money.

Mar 15, 2015 1:13 PM in response to krissoundzby behnamn90,Turn off the bluetooth!
I have the same problem. I have everything updated and if I turn off the Mac's bluetooth, the lag goes away and it works perfectly in both mirror mode and extended mode.
Specs:
Yosemite 10.10.2
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)
2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Apple TV3
