airport base station .

We have an airport base station in our office and an imac in our bedroom, the imac is extrem. slow and wondering if there is anything to extend the range (like through all the walls)

You do have a number of options available to you.


From best to least bandwidth performance:


  • Get another base station and configure them both for a "roaming" network.
  • Get another base station and Powerline adapters, and configure them for a "roaming" network.
  • Get another base station and configure them both for an "extended" network.


Note: In the last option, if the iMac is not getting a good signal from the current AirPort Extreme, then placing another base station at that location will have the same issue. You would want to place the extending base station between the current one and the iMac for best results.
