Q: Appleworks page numbers...

Hi, I just finished editing a book for a friend. She used Word, I copied and pasted it into Appleworks. Now, because of deleting and adding, her pages are off. Some are longer, some are shorter. Is there any way to do them sequentially other than manual?

Thanks for any info or ideas, Kate

This sounds as if page breaks have been inserted manually. You can check this by showing invisible formatting characters:

1Choose Preferences from the AppleWorks menu, then choose General from the submenu.
2If necessary, choose Text from the Topic pop-up menu.
3In the Options area, select Show Invisibles.

Note: To set this option for all documents, click Make Default.

Page breaks are indicated by a small image of a document with a down-arrow in it.

You can remove these by using Find and Replace, and searching for instances of \b and using 'Change all' to a space. Then AW will set its own page breaks.
