iPhoto uploading

Hi!

I am trying to upload photos from my digital camera onto my MacBook Pro by inserting the SD card into the slot. When I do this, my compiuter says "Photos are being uploaded to the photo library. PLease wait for import to be complete." Nothing else is being uploaded. I'm not sure that to do. Please help!
