i cant restore my iphone

Why? What happens?

1. Recovery Mode: iOS: Unable to update or restore - Apple - Support
2. DFU Mode:

   1. Plug your device into your computer.

   2. Turn off the device.

   3. Hold the Power button for 3 seconds

   4. Hold the Home button without releasing the Power button for 10 seconds

   5. Release the Power Button but keep holding the Home button

   6. Keep holding the Home button until you are alerted by iTunes saying that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode

NOTE: Make sure the device screen is blank and no logos are present

I always try this and the usb to i tunes logo appears.....cant get it to stay off....my i pod wont restore and I have tried everything!

The USB to iTunes logo means it is in Recovery Mode. Connecting it to iTunes should give you a prompt to restore. What exactly is happening? Do you get a prompt? Is it starting to restore and doesn't finish?

it goes through the whole restore part when connected and then it come up with ipod cant be connected to the software as it may not be available or please try later....I have continually tried it nearly every hour im on the laptop.

hi I tried this too and nothing helped, I searched and searched for ways to fix it and tried all that I could find,have tried uninstalling i tunes and re installing it with no luck.I had a old ipod ( not touch) and it works fine on it with updates....the ipod in question was working ok till I tried to update the software and restore it.

Do you have another computer you can try restoring (not sync) from?

Thats going to be my next option, I dont have one to try it on just now, but hopefully I can get someone to try it soon on theirs, after that I just dont know. Thanks for your help so far m8

This sounds to me like a problem with the computer contacting the update server and not the iOS device.

Is it still under warranty? The Apple store will be able to restore it for you. I am not sure what it would cost (if anything) outside of a warranty.

no it was my sons, I bought it 2 yrs ago and he has never used it ( teenagers) and it was fine when he gave me it and played on the wee speaker thing I had bought him too....it all went wrong when I tried to put music on it and it said it had to be restored.....and the rest is history :-)
