Aug 22, 2013 7:00 AM in response to Fah12345by Axeman1020,Why? What happens?
- Recovery Mode: iOS: Unable to update or restore - Apple - Support
- DFU Mode:
Plug your device into your computer.
Turn off the device.
Hold the Power button for 3 seconds
Hold the Home button without releasing the Power button for 10 seconds
Release the Power Button but keep holding the Home button
Keep holding the Home button until you are alerted by iTunes saying that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode
NOTE: Make sure the device screen is blank and no logos are present

Sep 25, 2013 3:11 AM in response to davieaby Axeman1020,The USB to iTunes logo means it is in Recovery Mode. Connecting it to iTunes should give you a prompt to restore. What exactly is happening? Do you get a prompt? Is it starting to restore and doesn't finish?

Sep 25, 2013 4:39 AM in response to davieaby Axeman1020,This sounds to me like a problem with the computer contacting the update server and not the iOS device.
Is it still under warranty? The Apple store will be able to restore it for you. I am not sure what it would cost (if anything) outside of a warranty.

Sep 25, 2013 5:54 AM in response to Fah12345by daviea,no it was my sons, I bought it 2 yrs ago and he has never used it ( teenagers) and it was fine when he gave me it and played on the wee speaker thing I had bought him too....it all went wrong when I tried to put music on it and it said it had to be restored.....and the rest is history :-)
