Q: Can't redownload purchases made before iCloud, how?

I was gifted an album, pre iCloud perhaps.  After an update, the songs all had! next to them saying file could not be located.  The iTunes Store shows it has been purchased, but there is no cloud next to them in my library so I can't redownload them.  It just shows downloaded.  How can I retrieve them?

iPad 2, iOS 6.1.3

    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

    If the entries are still showing in iTunes even with the ! next to it, you cant re download it until you delete the songs with ! next to them from iTunes. Then you could use Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store found here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519, to re download them.

     

    You can also use this article to try and locate the missing media before redownloading them from the iTunes Store again.
