Can I copy my registration info from one hard drive to another?
I replaced my hard drive in my Macbook Pro, and due to some other oddities with the computer I opted to install fresh rather than migrate the data. I cannot seem to find my Aperture 2 serial number in order to activate the Aperture 3 upgrade. Aperture 2 was purchased so long ago, that the receipt is also not accessible from my account. I suspect if I totally tear my office apart I might find the original box, but thus far all I've found is a lot of things I feel like I should throw away!
I have the original hard drive in an enclosure (I still occasionally need to pull something off of it). I have been able to copy Application settings from the drive for other products rather than having to go through all of the registration again, but this is not working. When I copy the Library data from the older hard drive to the new I'm still prompted for serial numbers. So I put in my Aperture 3 serial number and I'm prompted for my Aperture 2 serial number.
Is there no way to get this information from the old drive? If I knew when Aperture 4 was due I would possibly just repurchase - but I don't want to end up paying for yet ANOTHER upgrade if I purchase it now and then need to almost immediately upgrade.
I'm really pretty good about keeping serial numbers. I have older version serials numbers over 15 years old! But the Aperture 2 serial number in my file is the same as Aperture 3, so obviously I accidentally overwrote it.
Any hope here? Or am I just going to need to bite the bullet and repurchase?
Thanks!
