itunes 11.0.4.4, view playlists AND music library??

I had avoided updating my iTunes version for a long, long time, as I had been quite happy with 10.something. In that version, I could see all my playlists on the left-hand side while viewing my entire music library. This allowed for easy dragging of songs into playlists. Now that I have (finally) purchased an iPhone 4, iTunes said that I needed to update in order to sync it, as my 10.something was incompatible with the phone. As I feared, the new version has me baffled.

Is there no way to see the Playlist list while in the Music Library??
