I want to install snow leopard onto my version 10.5.8 mac OS X but the tech specs say i need 5GB memory to install it, but my computer says i have only 4GB 800MHz. How can i get more memory in order to install snow leopard?

The Mac OS X Snow Leopard installer is referring to the free space in the hard disk, not to the amount of RAM you have. You can upgrade to Mac OS X Snow Leopard with 4 GB of memory.
You have to delete data from the hard disk in order to free up space, or move files to an external drive. When there are 5 GB or more free, run the Mac OS X Snow Leopard installer again and upgrade. After upgrading, open > Software Update.
If you don't know what to delete, maybe it's a good reason to format the hard drive and install Mac OS X Snow Leopard. To do this, make a backup of your data with Time Machine before > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427
Thank you for your reply, i followed the second link and on the 'macintosh hd info' window it says my mac's available capacity is 88.23GB- does this mean i have more than enough to install snow leopard?
Also will the mac app store be installed as part of snow lion?

In that case, run the Snow Leopard installer and it will ask you to choose where you want to install Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Make sure you have selected Macintosh HD and install Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
If you can't, open Disk Utility (in /Applications/Utilities), choose Macintosh HD and repair permissions and verify the disk. What does Disk Utility say?
okay i havent actually got the snow leopard software yet, but going to order it now so it will be a few days before i reach that stage! At least i now know that it should work properly! If i have any more problems installing it i will post again. Thank you for the help.
