Hide text columns between landscape and portrait orientation

Hi Guys!

I'm working on an iBook v2 (on a Mac) with both orientations.

One of the chapters is an "Awards Timeline" and I used bookmark links to navigate said timeline. Below is a screenshot of the iBook program, landscape orientation, in which I used the template columns to place my bookmark words "1999-2004"

The Problem is, though the bookmark links are brilliant, I don't want to see them in the Portrait orientation (see hightligh lime in image below):

Anyway I can hide the text column from portrait rientation just like the thumbnail track?

Have you considered just using landscape?

Otherwise, I fail to see the benefit of hiding content from the user...

Yes we have considered lanscape, hehehe, but we really wanted this book to be in both orientations.

So, can we have a column of tect hidden from the layout?

I do understand that portrait orientation has its limitations, but I figure you guys might have some tips or ticks I can use 😉

Sorry, if had a suggestion on how to hide like you want I'd have stated already.

Maybe if you call support and discuss w/Apple.
