My "plays" aren't updating when I listen to a song on my iPhone or iPod

When I listen to a song on my computer, the coloumn that counts the number of plays updates. But if I've listened to a song on my iPhone or iPod and sync it to my computer, the coloumn doesn't update. Is there any setting I can change so that it will?
