I have an Apple TV and they are both on the same wireless connection but the airplay icon does not appear on my ipad. I want to mirror my ipad with Apple TV.

Double tap the Home button and slide all the way to the left. You should see the Music app controls. On the right you should have an AirPlay icon.
I have already done this and there was no icon. It definitely is not there. I have tried everything including resetting the network connection on my ipad and the apple tv. All of my software is up to date. It should not be this hard! I am a teacher and another teacher at our site is having the same issue.
Is AirPlay enabled on the Apple TV?

Airplay missing icon - I saw this fix in another forum when someone upgraded their software and ended up loosing Airplay....sounded crazy but totally worked! My airplay icon is back, and working!!
On your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch, navigate to Settings > General > International > Language and change to a different language (e.g. if you are using English, switch to French). The device will go through a language switch/reset process, and your AirPlay icon should be restored. Next navigate back to Settings > General > International > Language (translated into the new language, of course) and switch back to your original language.

Hi Tom,
I looked at each link you sent me and have tried all of them along with trying your trick with the languages, still no icon. I don't know where it is hiding. I have restarted and rebooted the apple tv as well. Airshare is on the apple tv. I am feeling determined.
Any other ideas are welcome.

My husband and I have this issue often. It just disappears for no apparent reason. I powered off, unplugged Apple TV, reset router and thought that fixed it last time. It didn't fix it tonight. It will probably reappear in a day or two but it is very frustrating.
Oh, I know where it is supposed to be but alas, tis not in the control center - nor is the air drop icon.
I'm having the same issue! I checked on multiple threads within this forum. I cannot reset the router because I live at a dorm and am using the school's internet. I called IT, and they have no experience with AppleTV but were able to verify that my ipad mini (running v 7.0.6) and appletv 3 were on the same network. I tried turning apple tv's airplay on & off. I've powered on/off and did a soft reboot of my ipad mini. I've updated firmware on appletv (even though I bought it today) and on my ipad mini (just updated to 7.0.6), and nothing. No Airplay icon when I swipe up to access control center. No airplay icon when I pull up music and video app on ipad mini. Very frustrating.
