Q: AirPlay icon missing in iTunes 11.0.5 - Windows 7

The Airplay icon only appears when there are devices detected on the network that are capable of having content Airplayed to them, typically an ATV or Airplay enabled speakers.

Check the firewall settings on the computer.

Ensure that the computer is on the same network as the other devices, some routers create seperate wireless and wired networks.

Same here ...Just now I have updated both the iphone 4s and macbook pro and both doesnt show airplay icon anymore...Apple guys plzz fix this issue....

I was having the same problem. It's happned after the last two times I have downloaded an itunes or appletv update.

The first time the airplay setting had been switched to off within appletv settings.

This time it looks like it was a network comunication issue. I logged off of the network on both my laptop and appletv. Once I came back on and re-entered network password on Appletv the airplay icon re-appeared.

FOUND A SOLUTION: I was beating my head against the wall on this too until I found a simple fix that worked for me.  Go check your streaming devices with airport utility.  I had a system upgrade I needed to do to my airport time capsule.  As soon as this was updated I got my airplay icon back and I am back to streaming music. Hope this helps someone out there....

run itunes in xp compatibity mode on windows 7 was the only thing that works for me.

check out the thread...... AIRPLAY ICON MISSING IN ITUNES WINDOWS SOLUTION in the search.... That solved my problem.

1) open control panel.

2)Choose Network and internet

3)Select the VIEW NETWORK STATUS TASKS under NETWORK and SHARING CENTER section

4) Choose the active network connection. It is usually name " wireless Network Connection 1" or something similiar.

5) Click the properties button

6) If the Internet PROTOCOL VERSION 6(TCP/IPv6) is checked, uncheck it, then click OK.

7) Click CLOSE

8) Restart iTunes and try to use the Home Sharing feature again.
