I have recently lost several notes in Notes. The notes appear under Notes in my email....what has caused them to disappear from my I Phone 5?

I have recently lost several notes in Notes. However, they are under Notes in my email folder. What has caused them to disappear fromm my I Phone 5? And how can I get them back on my phone?

iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.4

Go into Settings > Mail, Contacts, and Calendars > Your Email Account (the one that has the notes)

Check to see if notes are on. If they are not, turn them on and then check your notes app.
