go back feature?

Hi

I know on Windows XP there is a "go back" feature whereby the OS automatically sets restore points. Any such thing on the mac? I can't find an application that I was organizing and already used Finder and Spotlight to no avail.

Thanks!

Hi, zakk.

1. Do not move Apple-provided applications from their locations in either the Applications folder or the Applications > Utilities folder. You may have problems with future Software Updates if you relocate these applications.

2. Download a copy of EasyFind to see if it can find the application. There are only certain locations where Spotlight will search: see "Mac OS X 10.4: Where does Spotlight search?".

3. As noted, the "go back" feature you mentioned — restoring the system to a previous point — is not part of Mac OS X. You should implement a comprehensive Backup and Recovery solution. For advice on the backup and recovery solution I employ, see my "Backup and Recovery" FAQ.

Good luck!

Hi sherry

Thanks for the tip but I still couldn't find it. I had 2 Microsoft Office X folders and was cleaning up a folder & consolidating. I remember a pop-up window appeared asking me something about replacing something and then I found I couldn't find the Office suite at all.

I looked in the Trash to see if it was there but no luck, so it has to be somewhere embeeded in another file/folder.

If you have any other suggestions I would appreciate it!

Zakk
