Q: Why does apple not allow me to stream DVD's from my macbook pro to my apple TV?

Why does apple allow me to mirror everything but DVD's to my apple tv? I get the checkerboard of death on both screens when i try to mirror a DVD!?!?!?!

MacBook Pro (15-inch Mid 2012), Mac OS X (10.7.5), mirroring DVD's to Apple TV
