Try this:

- go to this websitte: https://appleid.apple.com

- select "manage your apple id"

- sign in and if it says your apple id and/or password is wrong then its not the devices at fault

On your iPhone when you go to settings>itunes & app store your apple id should show up at the top if you have already signed in before. If the Apple ID is correct then its most likely the password that is wrong. Make sure you are entering all capitals, lower case and numbers in the correct order.

If need be the link above also has an option to reset the password, you can do this either by email or security questions.

How to reset your Apple ID password.

Go to iforgot.apple.com and type in your Apple ID, then click 'Next'.

Verify your date of birth, then click 'Next'.

You'll be able to choose one of two methods to reset your password, either E-Mail Authentication or Answer Security Questions.

Also, if that doesn't work:

Go to https://expresslane.apple.com

Choose 'More Products & Services', then 'Apple ID'.

A new page will open.

Choose 'Other Apple ID Topics', then 'Forgotten Apple ID Security Questions'.
