My new SSD drive and my new problems
Hello, I have a macbook pro.
It dates back to 2010.
At the start of this summer my harddrive started too make dying noises. (source: right down corner of the laptop) Cracking and buzzing.. It is broken.
I let the poor thing sleep in the closet until I came back from holiday and decided to replace the Harddrive with an upgrade: an SSD.
To be specific, this is what's on the back:
SAMSUNG SSD (250GB)
840 Series
SATA 6Gb/s compatible with 3Gb/s
3-core MDX Controller
Toggle DDR 2.0 NAND Flash Memory
LPDDR2 SDRAM Cache Memory
AES 256-bit Encryption
Magician Software
Data Migration Software
!!! might be an important detail: I don't care about data migration, because i put all i needed in backups on an external drive ( not with time machine ).
Here's what I did:
I replaced my old drive with an SSD, following 5 youtube videos. And it all seemed very easy. ( Open, plug out, plug in, close. )
I let an apple employee put mountain lion on an new bought USB stick for me.
I insert the USB into my laptop which now has an SSD
I start up the laptop holding down the "alt" key.
Here´s what happens:
Selecting the USB during the startup brings me to a grey screen, which contains:
A flashing apple logo
A flashing icon of a map with a question mark covering the icon
A flashing close icon ( it looks like this Ø )
This flashing of icon and logo's takes a random order and doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever.
Any information is welcome, because right now I'm using a PC and I don't like it.
Regards, Wessel
