how do i remove duplicate bookmarks from my ipad?

It seems the links go on forever! Some of the links are ancient and I've deleted them everywhere Ican think of but when I attempt to delete them on my ipad the links are never ending and the source is unclear, If I remove an entire folder from the edit, it links to some information that I use but it doesn't let me delete individual bookmarks. It seems to be all or nothing.
