I followed the instructions at apple.com/support/iPod, as my iPod has a red X on its screen. However, it won't go into disk mode! Does anyone have any other advice/tips? It is no longer covered for apple support, so I'd have to purchase an incident consultation for $20. Looking to the people for some guidance. Thanks all! It's been about a year since I last turned it on, so I don't remember which version of iTunes is on it. I did charge it, however. It will give me the apple logo when I toggle the hold button, but after that, it goes back to the red X.
