Saving a Pages document to ASCII

I see a lot of techy discussions around this question. However, not a techy person needing to do this ASAP. I am trying to submit a resume and I need to save my current resume into ASCII format. Frustrated as it is with Pages. Please explain a simple way to do this. Thank you!

Because this is plain text (ASCII) export, you may find it necessary to tweak the final appearance. I would do this in TextEdit. In the TextEdit Preferences under New Document, select Plain text. Choose a Plain text font that you know will be on the recipients (probably Windows) machine. Under Open and Save, check “Add “.txt” extension to plain text files.”

Plain text format does not contain any font info, so it doesn't really matter what you choose. It will display with whatever font is the default on the recipient's machine.

Plain text format also may not be "ASCII," which refers to the character set. It doesn't eliminate non-ASCII characters like accents or curly quotes, etc., it just eliminates all font and other styling info.
