volume suddenly gets LOUD

I just recently bought a 7th generation iPod Nano. Sometimes, when I skip to the next song or at the start of a new song, that song will painfully BLAST through my ears even though I didn't increase the volume, and I have to turn the volume down. Some songs for some reason play loudly on the Nano even though on my previous iPod / iPhone devices and my computer, they were at the same volume range. I haven't detected any changes of volume while a song is playing, it's only when transitioning from one song to another.

I've tried using the Volume Limit feature but that doesn't fix the problem that there seems to be a disparity in the volume setting of different songs. If I adjust it so that the loud songs no longer deafen me, then I can't hear the songs that played normally.

Is there some way the volume can be regulated so that I can hear ALL of the songs without the Nano blasting my ears?
