iPod nano 6th gen and Precor efx 835 problems

I have an iPod nano 6th gen, and I have been using the Nike fitness app that is built into the nano. The gym got new Precor efx 835 elliptical machines, and now the nano isn't recognized when I plug it in to the 30-pin cable on the elliptical. I would really like to keep my workout data... Any idea how I can get the machine to recognize my iPod?
