2010 Mac pro, two monitors

I have a 2010 Macpro. 2 mini display ports. I want to be able to connect 2 monitors. What are my options?

My plan is to use one monitor with a DVI port to the DVI of the MP. Monitor number 2 (for the time being is my iMac) I could go from that to the MP via mini display port?

So.. the 5770 yes? supports 3 monitors and depending on resolution you use different MiniDisplay to DVI. I don't see what you still need to know.
