Hi folks,

I have a late 2008 15inch MacBook Pro which won't start up. It seems to be stuck in a restart loop.

When the power button is pressed, the computer starts up, displaying the grey screen with the spinning icon, after approx. 20 secs. It stops spinning, and the screen goes black; the computer restarts automatically and continues in this loop.

This came about after working for 3 hours with just the power cable connected and no battery. I started noticing the underside of the laptop was very hot, and the battery appears to be suffering from 'Battery Bloat'. I have taken the back off and cleaned the fans( which appear to work) and air vents. Have also reseated the RAM boards, and checked the drive.

I have tried to start up without the battery in place, same result as above.

Have also tried PRAM reset and SMC reboot to no avail.

Suspect I might have cooked the RAM or Logic board- any and all pointers very much welcomed!

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)
