I can't send email

My Mail 4.6 software will not let me send from my desktop Mac. The send icon is grayed out. I have checked settings with my isp, wht is next?

iMac (21.5-inch Late 2009), Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Thanks for the question. I understand your send button is greyed out in Mail, the following archived article may help to resolve your issue:

For issue 2


1. Open Mail.

2. Choose Preferences from the Mail menu.

3. Click Accounts in the Preferences window.

4. Select (highlight) your account on the left side of the window if you have more than one account.

5. Click the Account Information pane.

6. Ensure that the "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" pop-up menu is not set to "None". If it is, select your server from the "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" pop-up menu if it appears.

7. Test for the issue.
