I need to update to iOS 5 but my phone doesn't have "Software Update" in the "General" menu. What should I do?

When trying to update my phone I realize that the line "Software Update" which is supposed to be found between "About" and "Usage" in the General menu simply isn't there. Is there some way to fix this problem or to go around and update to iOS 5 in some other way?

The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.
