Duplicate *MOV files each time file saved/edited?

Hi everyone,

Hope someone can help? My PC (running latest version of windows xp) is for some reason saving duplicates of each movie file? I am trying to free up some space and get my movies and picture folders organised. However, when I renamed something, it saved two copies of the same folder where only one existed previously? When I deleted the duplicate - it deleted both the original AND the duplicate.

I restored it and tried again? Same thing happened?

Trying to change one of the file names to something more unique in the hope this would let me delete the duplicates didn't work either.

Sometimes there is more than on duplicate created. On one occasion, there were 5 duplicates created.

Can anyone throw any light on what's going on?
