Smart groups in iCloud but not on Mac

From groups made up of individual cards I've entered.

The problem is that the groups listed under "On My Mac" are not populated with cards, while they are under the iCloud list. Also the iCloud list has the complete set of groups (15), while the "On My Mac" list only has 9 of them.

Both Eric Root and Csound1 helped me with restoring the contacts into those "On My Mac" groups. I exported from the iCloud list and imported back into the "On My Mac" groups (creating new ones as needed.

I'm still having problems when I try to mail using the smart groups that draw from those groups. When I type in the To block the name of the smart group they apper in bold, but when I try to send they crash mail. Do I have to remove the name of the smart group from my previous recipents window to get them to grab the right address.

Well, none of these things worked for me. The problem seems to be in the Smart Groups themselves somehow. I have sent mail using the individual groups, but trying to create a smart group out of those same groups doesn't work. The Smart Group that is created doesn't reveal any of the individual addresses and when I try to send the message with that smart group it crashes mail.

My contacts page has groups listed under iCloud. I create a Smart Groups out of collections of those groups. Under Snow Leopard I was able to send an email to all those contacts by typing the name of the Smart Group into mail. Now it doesn't seem to work.
