ive done a software update and my phone wont switch on its just comin up with a usb lead and a itune logo

It's in recovery mode. Plug it into your computer running iTunes and restore it.
this may seem stupid but how do i go about this
Turn on your computer.
Start iTunes.
Take the cable that came with your phone... plug it into a USB port on your computer.
Now plug the other end into your phone.
iTunes should tell you it's detected an iPhone in recovery mode and offer to restore it.
im tryin to restore my phone using itunes but its asking me to insert a disk which i dont have then telling to go on website for driver sortware im confused
Is the current version of iTunes installed on your computer? You can download the current version from http://www.apple.com/itunes
What EXACTLY does the message say?
