Q: is it worth upgrading to apple tv 3rd generation?

I have a 1st gen Apple TV with the newest software update there is no access to the new channels available on 2nd and 3rd gen devices. What is the difference and what do you have available with updgrading the device?

In addition to the many channels that you mention, the new devices also offer higher resolution output and airplay.
