Spotlight not working
I just got a new mac and spotlight is not working. It's not finding my files. How do I index Spotlight?

In System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy. Drag your hard drive into the privacy window for a moment or two then drag it out. Spotlight will begin re-indexing.
Thanks, I tried that, but it's not working still.
When you click on the Spolight icon you don't see any indexing happening?
If it's a new Mac you do have free telephone support.
The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you also have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.
I keep reading about dragging hard drive into this area, re-indexing seems to be a solution to lots of things I don't understand.
I'd like to know how to do this though, as I'm still relatively new to Apple stuff having used macs for only a year. Tried to anyway(!)
Where would I see indexing going on, by the way?
