Sims 2 Nightlife UB slow on MacBook

I just installed the Sims 2 Nightlife and ran the 1.2A UB Nightlife patch but am still getting low FPS. Now I know the MacBook's integrated graphics aren't great but I can't even run the game on low settings at 800x600, I get 5-10fps! I mean I even got Doom 3 running at 30fps on low. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or is this just a bad port? Does the Windows version run any better?

BTW I have the 2GHz MacBook with 1GB RAM.
