iMac running slow with Mountain Lion

My 2007 iMac (4GB RAM) has Mountain Lion loaded (10.8.4).

Since loading its running very slow - 20-30 sec to login, more than 20 sec to open Firefox, etc.

Before I loaded ML I was told the system specs were adequate but i am wondering if I should go back to Snow Leopard.

Below some info on my system (having read a previous post on a related subject). I looked in Console and noticed a line repeating. I used to have a Lexmark printer a few months back, but removed that some time back (and also have had a new hard drive installed since and done a reinstall).

You might try removing Trusteer. It has caused problems for some. You can always reinstall it if there is no change.

Trusteer Rapport Uninstall

You also might check your hard drive level Library/Printers to make sure all the Lexmark associated files are deleted since you aren't using the printer.

The Lexmark .plists should be in your User Library, which you can access by either holding down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command

and select your user Library in your home folder or use the Finder Go To Folder command and enter ~/Library/Preferences.

Eric, I've taken out Trusteer and I can't fine anymore Lexmark plists. So let's see if that helps.

I notcied that parental controls seem to be a higher CPU usage so i've removed that for nopw to see if it makes a difference.

I also went through the list of links from Baltwo, and have tried repairing disk permissions which i have not done for a while.
