when i click an icon on my launchpad, it doesn't open, the launchpad just closes what can i do to be able to click an icon on my launchpad?

Everytime i try to click an icon on my launchpad,it just wont open and the launchpad closes.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6)
