Cannot open ipa file in iTunes

Hey all!

Okay I have a developer creating an app for my business. He sent me these instructions to install the app ipa on my iphone to test it to see how it works:

Copy 'Testing_phase_1.mobileprovision' to your phone. 2. Then copy app.ipa' to the phone. 3. Then install it and that should run on the phone. I followed all this and watched the download bar on the app icon get to about half way stops and this error message pops up saying iTunes app fail to install. My developer says he can view and run in on his iPad. I am not getting why this file will not open. Any ideas? I am stressed the **** out! He says is must be on my end. 😠

iPhone 4, iOS 6.1.3

iTunes 11 have sometime problems with installing ipa files How to manage IPA files into iOS device when we can’t use iTunes.

A simple way to install ipa files is to drag into iTunes and installing via the ‘Applications’ bookmark on the device.

My iTunes has a problem with this method and the application is never installed (I only see the message “will be installed” but the application is not installed).

Alternative: iPhone Configuration Utility

Fortunately there is an alternative way, software from Apple: iPhone Configuration Utility. (You can download from Apple website: iPhone Configuration Utility).

The procedure is simple and similar as in iTunes

  • Drag IPA file into “Application” bookmark
  • Open Device and open “application” tab
  • Find your application and click to install
