Q: Airport Express

I Just bought an airport express and connected it to my D link router but when I open airport utility to set it up it won't find the base station. The chap at the Apple store said it would work with my existing network. I simply want to extend my range to my back deck area. Suggestions?

    If you goal is to use a wireless connection between the D-Link and the new AirPort Express for the purpose of extending the D-Link's wireless range with the Express, this won't work ... as the two are incompatible.

     

    If; however, the connection between them will be wired, then you would have the fundamentals of a "roaming" network.
