Q: Safari can find some pages but not google
I have a Macbook OS 10.5.8, Safari 5.0.6, all uptodated as can be. I replaced our old Lynksys WiFi router yesterday with a new Lynksys E1200. Installed the router from my Macbook, then on my husband's Macbook (OS 10.6.8, Safari 5.1.9) which for reasons you will learn I now am using. WiFi is working fine for spouse's Macbook, both iPhones and iPads. However, on my Macbook (10.5.8) Safari cannot display certain websites (google, bing, yahoo, National Hurrican Center) - even thought they are pinging OK. It can load other websites (the bank, amazon, for example) no problem. Spent an hour with technician at Juneau Electronics (Apple dealer) yesterday checking all settings and we cannot figure it out. I then restored Safari from Time Machine. Same spinning ball on the browser tab. Then restored old versions of Opera and Firefox which I deleted a couple of years back. They have the same spinning ball problem. Leads me to believe it is something in the OS. I am at a complete loss. No other browsers work with OS 10.5.8, and now Safari doesn't. Even though my Macbook is old, I keep it clean and healthy and have a fair amount of expensive software on it. I do not want to have to replace it all because of this stupid problem with Safari. Help!!!
