I just received a notice on my iPad (3) that it doesn't have a sim card....I didn't know it needed one? When I try to go to the cellular data features, they are all greyed out so I can't access them. I'm running on wifi right now....but when I go off, no celluar data, hence no internet, etc.
Any suggestions?

Have you been able to use cellular data before? If so, it sounds as if there is a problem with your SIM. You can try popping it out and putting it back it. However, you may well need a new one. Take the iPad to your carrier.

I didn't think ipad had sim cards? I looked for a "drawer" like on an iphone...can't find it? I don't recall even putting one in when I bought it. Have had it for years and used cellular data the whole time. Where is the sim card located on an ipad?
WiFi only iPads do not have SIM slots. WiFi + Cellular, by necessity, do.

Thanks...found it. Took out the sim card and put it back in....still get the message "no sim card" so I see I will need to get a new one.
My question is should I go to the Apple store or can I just get one at an AT&T store? Will I loose all my current data when I put in a new sim card? Thanks again....learn something new every day!
If AT&T is your carrier, you'll need to go to them. Apple won't replace your SIM. None of your data is stored on the SIM. You won't lose anything.
