That usually means you've implemented a firmware password or have an encrypted hard drive via FileVault 2.
I sent it out for repair to PowerBook Medic because apple said they could fix it but for 1200 which I got it fixed for 800! So I thought but when it was returned it is doing the same thing that it was doing before when I just press the power button it is searching. And when I boot up in options it gives me the Big Padlock!
If apple knows how to bypass this how come it is not shared with the public when this is A TOP Issue that I see all the time. I never set a firmware password I thing the app.e Genius Bar set one when I had brought it in way before this problem.
If anyone knows how to bye pass this pad lock password I am all ears.
Thanks Suzanne
Well, you never answered my query. I'll assume it's a firmware password. Disconnect the AC adaptor, remove the battery if it's removable. Remove both memory modules and wait at least five minutes. Reinstall the memory modules.
