How to reinstall Sarafi: slow and stuck

Is there any way to reinstall Safari? It broke today... it's very sloooooow. At first I thought It was Google servers or something because any search takes years to respond. But no. Any page takes several minutes to load in Safari.

Firefox runs snappy.

Safari in my iPhone runs snappy too.

Safari in my MacBook runs like a snail, it is broken.

I don't remember doing any change in my configuration.

I've deactivated extensions.

I've deactivated Java.

I've reseted Safari.

I've reseted Time Capsule.

Nothing works.

Thank you.

MacBook, OS X Mountain Lion

Have you emptied the Safari cache lately?

Press Command + Option + E on your keyboard.

Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

If emptying the cache didn't help, try troubleshooting third party plugins.

Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

And try this DNS.

Open System Preferences > Network > Advanced > DNS

Click + and type:

208.67.222.222

Click + again and do the same.

208.67.220.220

Click OK. Quit and relaunch Safari to test..

Just so you are aware, on a Mac running Moutain Lion, v10.8, the only way to reinstall Safari is to restore OS X usingOS X Recovery

OS X Recovery requires a high speed broadband internet connection.

Thanks, Carolyn, but nothing works. In addition to what I'd already tried, I also tried empting cache and deactivating plug-ins and restarted Sarafi, as you said. I have both Firefox and Safari open. I do a search in Google, first in Safari, then in Firefox... Firefox loads the results at once, Safari... still blank. It was worthless to lose my passwords and my autofill data on reset. It didn't work. I think I'll quit Safari for a while, I have work to do and at least Firefox is working.

Thanks.

Well, after a some hours awake, at last I could find a solution in the following thread:

Safari has become very slow the last few days, only on a few programs - google, youtube, wikipedia. Also mail is slow to send and receive.

It has something to do with IPv6 parameters. Now that Safari works fine, I'll search for what this IPv6 is about, I have some doubts:

  1. I don't remember any change in my configuration recently, so why does this problem arise?
  2. Which is IPv6 main use for?
  3. Why Firefox wasn't affected by this problem?
  4. There is another similar parameter: IPV4. What is it?

I'll learn all that later, I'm going to take a nap right now.

I did a little research about IPv6 and Ipv4. Very interesting!

In my case, the problem was IPv6 configuration. I don't know why or how this problem came up yesterday. But I follow a hint from reading this thread : Safari has become very slow the last few days, only on a few programs - google, youtube, wikipedia. Also mail is slow to send and receive. : and then I search a little more and I found this helpful and enlighting documents, I hope they help you too 🙂

My Safari crashed too, about 6 weeks ago. This occurred immediately after Sophos upgraded its engine! Switching Sophos on-line scanning doesn't help.

There seems to be no apparent way to re-install Safari, nor delete first.

Mac OS X v10.6.8 ; Safari 5.1.10 (6534.59.10) ; Sophos (currently) v9.0.11, Engine 3.5.1 .

Firefox 29.01, (working OK than gooness)
