Is it safe to use palm rest protectors on a 11" Macbook Air?

My girlfriend has a Macbook Air but it is suffering from terrible oxidation/pitting in the palm rest area. It's just getting worse, and the thing doesn't even have six months of usage. She has sweaty hands and I think that's what's causing it.

To prevent that, we're thinking about buying a palm rest protector/skin, but I saw an article saying that Apple don't recommend them for the Retina Macbook Pro.

So, for the Macbook Air is it fine to use it? If not, how are we supposed to prevent the pitting?

Thanks in advance.

That was for ultra tight tolerances of the Retina Pro. Theyre just vinyl sheets and perfectly fine on the Air.

heres the article youre talking about:

http://www.cultofmac.com/193762/apple-says-you-need-to-stop-using-palm-rests-on- your-retina-macbook-pro/

what is mentioned in THAT article are vinyl decals which are an average of 2-4 times thicker than paper thin (even thinner) clear vinyl stickers for sweat

some people have some insidious sweat-acid that causes that.

You can make your own from 8X10 lamination sheets and cut them down to size.

Some people use neat looking square bumper sticker like stickers to serve as both decoration and sweat protection.

yes, its fine to use those on the Air.

To be sure, Im talking about the paper thin SHEETS, not anything that raises the palm rest, of which a few products like that are made and a very BAD idea because they can press against the screen and crack same during a hard close or inside a bad pressing.

Never mount anything on the base that will touch or press against the screen

Oh, thanks for the explanation, that's relieving!

So even a laminating sheet will be fine? The glue won't be a problem (I guess not, since you can at least remove the glue somehow, it's better than the oxidation)?

It would be nice to use the laminating sheet, since we're from Brazil, and the number of avaliable accesories for Macs here are not that great, we would probably need to import a proper protector and it would take weeks to arrive here.
