I wanted to add text to an iphoto picture for a calander. What i did was drag a photo to imovie .Then i added a text to the picture.Next i took a screen
shot of the photo then added it to my calender photo collection.John c.🙂
OK -- You can do it with less quality loss by exprting and using preview to do it or setting Preview as your external editor - Of it you have another image editor like PhotoShop Elements that can do it too

You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
