Does the glass used in iPhone 4S and iPod touch 4th Gen. the same?

I'm just wondering are the glass used on iPhone 4S & iPod touch 4th Gen. the same? I have an iPod touch before I purchase an iPhone 4S. The reason I was excited then to buy the phone because months past by my iPod touch still don't have scratches on them despite the beating and I didn't put screen protector. So, I bought the phone and days after my purchase I see little by little hairline scratches from my phone. Is there any way to make them disappear?
