I just can't download this movie. I've updated to the latest version of iTunes and it's had no problem downloading other purchases recently, but apparently it's a whole different ball game with Star Trek.

What do I do now?

I eventually got an email from Apple that said they'd posted a new version of the movie in my library and to click on check available downloads. My tip is DON'T. Clear the download list and go straight to your purchased page in iTunes. Be prepared to spend the rest of the day (or in my case night) downloading the file. And if you have slow broadband speeds don't download the extras- doing so literally shaved 4 hours off of the features download time.

I've never had this problem before mind- and I've downloaded similar sized (and bigger) movies and tv series without so much hassle. All I can think is there are a lot of Trekkers out there firing up their phaser banks ;)

OK I got a new error code of 3259 but I also got a reply from Itunes below.

At least I will get a refund for the film and hopefully it should clear from my download section.

I have never had any problems before like this but at least now it seems to be sorted

I reviewed your concern and I understand that you are having trouble downloading your
movie rental as you are getting an error "3259". I know your time is valuable, and I
certainly understand the need for a timely remedy. No worries, let me look into this for
you. Please accept my sincere apologies for the frustration this download has caused.
I took the liberty of removing the file(s) causing the issue from your download queue.
After reviewing the circumstances of your case, we determined that issuing you a refund
for your purchase of "Star Trek Into Darkness" is an appropriate exception to the iTunes
_Store Terms and Conditions, which state that all sales are final. In five to seven business
days, a credit of 3.49 GBP should be posted to the credit card that appears on the
receipt for that purchase.
Please wait at least two weeks before repurchasing this title.
This will give us time to investigate the issue and make any corrections that may be
necessary.
If you need more assistance, please feel free to email me again. Thank you for being an
iTunes customer.
Always take care! Have a wonderful day!

I've had a similar problem with the Prometheus Blu-ray's digital copy and itunes extras. Now I also have this problem with Star Trek Into Darkness and its digital copy.

Last time it happened I emailed Apple who gave me a very standard and useless 'try redownloading it now, we have readded it to your account again'.

I had the extact same problem.

In the end the problem just sort of fixed itself. I left it for a while figuring I had tried what they recommended and couldn't be bothered anymore. Then after a week or so I thought I'd give it another go and it downloaded fine, and at a much quicker pace too.

I recommend patience, as Apple will be no help whatsoever, and I reckon in a week or two the downloads will probably suddenly work fine.
