New I tunes version

Just downloaded the new i tunes ---------- it does recognise my IPOD but I cannot work out how to move newly downloaded material onto my ipod. Syncing seems to be OK, but nothing is happening. Also all the tunes in the exiting library are greyed out. So I cannot just play music on the computer from ITUNES as I used to be able to do.

Any ideas anyone?
