final cut pro trial - need to install with all those steps?

I have the FCPX trial on my mac and want to buy the official version.


Apple provides a detailed process for "uninstalling the trial" without specifying if this also apply (with all the manual cleaning steps) when a purchased version is installed.


While on one side i certainly don't want messing sniplets from both versions, on the other side, I am purchasing this version to be able to go cross platform with Adobe Premiere Pro. However, to be able to do so, i needed to install codecs (ProQuick....) so Adobe would recognize formats captured with FCPX. I wonder to which extent the detailed manual uninstall could mess with this...?.


So basic question is: *do i* need to perform all those detailed steps, and do (should) i perform the uninstall *before* purchasing from App Store ? (Does the k

Install launches immediately or does it first download and wait for an action from user to install? (As i don't aim to sit and watch the download over adsl for about an hour +++, this is another concern.... i do hate the app store for this....)

To remove the Final Cut Pro X Trial, follow the steps below for the version of Mac OS X that you are using.

Note: If you are purchasing Final Cut Pro X, you do not need to manually remove the Final Cut Pro X Trial.

OS X Mountain Lion

  1. 1. In Finder, choose Applications from the Go menu.
  2. 2. Locate the Final Cut Pro Trial application and drag it to the Trash.
  3. 3. In Finder, hold down the Option key and choose Library from the Go menu.
  4. 4. In the Library folder that opens, open the Application Support folder. Move the Final Cut Pro Trial folder and the Apple Qmaster folder to the Trash.
  5. 5. Return to the Library folder and open the Caches folder. Move the "com.apple.FinalCutTrial" folder to the Trash.
  6. 6. Return to the Library folder and open the Preferences folder. Move the following files to the Trash:
